  • 5th Class visit Glasnevin Cemetery

Fifth class had such an insightful and enjoyable day out learning all about how Glasnevin Cemetery is the resting place of over 1.5 million people. We got to see and learn about The O’Connell Tower and experience the crypt of Daniel O’Connell who was the founder of Glasnevin Cemetery, we even got to touch his coffin for good luck!
Maybe someday we’ll get to climb the O’Connell Tower.
There were many other important Irish Political Figures like Eamon De Valera, Countess Markievicz and Michael Collins that had a huge part to play in Irish Historical events such as the 1916 Rising and The War of Independence that we learned about.
Some of us were amazed to hear Arianna Grande had visited Glasnevin Cemetery in the past and even got to pose for a photo where she did at the time!
It was great to hear and learn more stories from our amazing tour guide at Glasnevin Cemetery with what we had been learning about in our Glasnevin Experience Booklets in class the weeks leading up to our trip.
