Science Week ran in our school the week of 13th – 17th November 2023 and Mr. Davis organised a fun-filled and colourful show based around scientific experiments using balloons. We got to see some balloons being inflated with a gas caused by a chemical reaction between vinegar and baking soda, we loved the noisy screeching rocket balloons and we were stunned to observe a sharp wooden skewer piercing a balloon but not bursting it. Mr. Davis even showed us how to place a balloon on a candle flame without it exploding! There was also some fun with balloon surf boarding and the show finished with the ‘strongest pupil’ competition – who could burst their ballon first! The show was part of our celebrations of all things scientific and many thanks to Ms. Ryan, our school’s science co-ordinator, for organising an amazing week.
