We have been learning all about the vikings and where they came from. We constructed our own viking longships and later this month we are going to take a trip to Dublinia to put our knowledge to the test!! Luckily for us, Emily’s Mom grew up in Denmark so she taught us many interesting things about Denmark. We learned some basic phrases in Danish, we talked about Lego, Hans Christian Anderson who wrote many fairytales including ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘The Ugly Duckling’. We were impressed with how many people cycle in Denmark and how proud they are of their flag. Did you know they like to wrap banners of the Danish flag round their Christmas trees instead of tinsel!!! Mette made some traditional Danish food for us to taste. We had some Frikadeller (Danish Meatballs) and some Smorrbrod (thin rye bread used for an open sandwich). Everyone enjoyed the Danish food so much and we were all looking for more!!!! What a treat!
