After many weeks of work starting in December ’22, Room 9 (Fifth Class) were delighted to attend the ‘Science Blast’ Science Fair in the RDS on the 1st March ’23 to showcase their investigation “What if the Dinosaurs had Survived?” The project involved lots of research into the complex ideas of natural selection, evolution and speculative ideas of what forms dinosaurs may have taken had they survived into the present day. Room 9 carried out surveys on pupils from classes 3rd – 6th to gather their ideas and notions about dinosaurs, before going about further in-depth research. As part of the investigation, the boys and girls visited Dublin’s Natural History Museum to observe nature in all its aspects. The project was all encompassing, involving history, geography, biology and also art – the pupils really showcased their artistic talents. The judge on the day was highly impressed by the curiosity and interest that the pupils’ showcase awarded to visitors at the RDS. The class walked away with a trophy to recognise their super efforts – a terrific result. A hugely enjoyable day for all. Well done to all the pupils of Room 9 and well done on your presentation.
