Tree Day 2023

Thursday 5th October was National Tree Day 2023 (Lá na gCrann). The native Hazel tree was the tree that had been chosen this year. This tree is very common in Ireland and the hazelnuts are ripe by August. The school were lucky enough to register in time and to receive a free hazel sapling to plant on the school grounds. Many thanks to the pupils from 3rd class who helped to plant the tree. They took care to select a suitable spot, to prepare the ground carefully and to be gentle when planting the sapling. Hopefully it will grow up big and strong and will thrive in the coming years.
