Garda 5-a-side success

It was a hugely successful and exciting few days for SMGS at the Garda 5-a-Side tournament, with both our girls’ and boys’ teams putting in outstanding performances.

Last Friday, our girls’ team showed fantastic skill, teamwork, and determination as they battled their way all the way to the semi-final. In a closely contested match, they were narrowly beaten by a superb St. Audeon’s side. The girls can be incredibly proud of their efforts and the spirit they showed throughout the competition.

On Monday, it was the boys’ turn to shine—and what a performance it was! The team made it all the way to the final, winning an incredible 7 games along the way. Their journey included a dramatic semi-final victory decided on penalties, showing great composure and teamwork under pressure.

The final itself was a thrilling contest, with the boys giving everything to secure the win. A special mention must go to Finn, whose incredible stop denied a certain goal at a crucial moment. That stop proved vital and helped secure victory for the team. Finn’s bravery will something that neither his teammates or coach will forget for a long time.

A fantastic achievement for both teams and a proud moment for SMGS. Well done to all involved!
