The pupils from 3rd class picked the warmest day of the year to transplant their sunflower plants outdoors in the school garden! Temperatures reached the high twenties! The pupils paired up with the younger children from Room 3, Junior Infants, and they worked together to dig out the soil, replant the flowers and to carefully cover the plant with soil before giving it a welcome drink of water. Hopefully, the plants will grow up big and tall with flower heads the size of dinner plates! Many thanks to Gary the gardener for allowing us to plant the flowers in one of the garden beds. The garden looks amazing at this time of year with potatoes, strawberries, courgettes, tomatoes and broad beans all thriving.
